Chris George is president of CG&A COMMUNICATIONS, a public relations firm established in 1994, with a network of consultants spanning from Montreal through Ottawa, Toronto and Niagara to upper New York State.
Chris’s focus of work includes strategic communications counsel and campaign management, corporate positioning, and media and government relations. He plays a lead role for CG&A COMMUNICATIONS in designing and developing advocacy and issue management initiatives. He serves as lead communications counsel to CEOs/Presidents, Boards of Directors and senior executive teams.
Chris is the editor and writer for the By George Journal, an on-line opus that provides insightful articles and interesting materials for use in today’’s workplace or social settings. Chris is a regular speaker on effective communications practices and on issues-of-the-day, and he is an experienced facilitator for public relations workshops and seminars.
Throughout his career, Chris has provided advice and his management expertise to scores of public relations, advocacy and political campaigns. For fourteen years (1995-2009), CG&A COMMUNICATIONS was responsible for MADD Canada’s advocacy programs with the federal and provincial governments as well as the charity’s national media relations program. In 1998, Chris was named National Director of Communications and Public Policy serving the Chief Executive Officer and the National Board of Directors.
In 2000-2001, Chris served as communications counsel to the Ottawa Transition Board, the body overseeing the amalgamation of 12 local governments into the new City of Ottawa. In this capacity, he provided strategic counsel and support to the Chairman and Board members. He also forged and managed a communications team that undertook the Board’s municipal staff and unions communications as well as its comprehensive media and public relations efforts.
Prior to owning the public relations business, Chris spent over seven years on Parliament Hill on staff with Cabinet Ministers and Members of Parliament. He also has served in senior managerial positions in advocacy, leadership and electoral campaigns at every level of government. Today, Chris resides in St. Catharines, with his wife and business partner, Lisa, and their sons, Alexander and David.
